How to use the Pop-Up Banner

Learn how you can set up this element, to help increase FR goals

23.3.2023

Happy to introduce the new Pop-Up Banner element to you. Thanks to the AT Team, who created the original version, in an A/B Tasty test.

It is an element aimed at increasing fundraising goals, such as donations for urgent missions or rescues. It can also be used to get more petition signatures or newsletter sign ups.

Details:

  • The pop-up shows up on any page the visitor lands on, after 10 seconds/scrolling (when the pop-up is made 'active').
  • The visitor first needs to accept the cookies.
  • If the user clicks it away with the 'x', it won't show up again for another 30 days (when Cookies resets)
    • OR, when we change the content of it.
  • The style can be changed for Donation, Petition or Newsletter (orange, pink, blue).
  • Whenever you want to change the pop-up, you need to edit the same one directly. In order to track its engagement, please document the timeframe of when a certain version was live. It would be best to keep this in a document with a screenshot of the pop-up.

How to add it to your outlet:

  1. Navigate to your outlet.
  2. Scroll down in your document tree to this folder: Configuration (will be at the end of all your shortcut links).
  3. Click on the Configuration folder, and press the '+'

select pop up banner

4. Select the Pop-Up Banner.

5. Once there, you can start working on the Pop-Up directly in the Content Canvas by adding an engaging Headline and Subline:

6. Add the important items in the inspector:

  • An eye catching image related to the CTA (plus image title and alt text)
  • Add the Button/label name, and add a link to the donation/petition page, where it says 'Link'.
  • Scroll down, past Document (Do not change the url here!)
  • Choose the option, Type --> depending on if it is linking to a donation or petition page

7. At the end - you need to scroll down to select --> Status --> Active. This means it is then live.

How to Track Engagement with the Pop-Up

Once you have access to Google Analytics 4, you will be able to track engagement. It is very important that you document the timeframes for each pop-up style you use, so you can understand how much people engaged with certain pop-up content.

To see the engagement, head to your country's view in GA4, then to Events and search for the event name.
The event names are: neos_pop-up_cta_click and neos_pop_up. Make sure to put it in the correct timeframe when checking the numbers.
