Lionesses Gasira, Luna and Elsa

Three lionesses Gasira, Luna, and Elsa share a tale of resilience, adaptation, and sisterhood.

Three lionesses Gasira, Luna, and Elsa share a tale of resilience, adaptation, and sisterhood. Their journey, marked by separation and relocation, speaks of survival against the toughest odds.

Originally part of the Braila group, these lionesses once roamed together. But the dynamics shifted as males Gamba, Jengo, Maru and Samson fought for dominance. In May 2019, a decision was made that Gasira, Luna, and Elsa would find solace in another species-appropriate enclosure.

Here, the lionesses forged bonds anew, their eyes reflecting shared memories.

Together, they roamed their forever home, their roars harmonising standing as a testament to the strength that binds them into sisterhood.
