Filtered View Links: Press Releases and Publications
A new feature allows you to create a link directly to a filtered view for Press Releases and Publications. Learn how!
New Feature: Filtered view links
We developed an new option for our Publication and Press Release overview. We are now able to use a link filtered view, using our taxonomies behind each page. This could be very helpful for our programmes/digital comms colleagues, linking to specific topics from social media, or we can link from teasers. See examples.
New! (30.03.2023) It also works for News & Blog Pages, and Rescue Stories.
FYI: The website vistior can already filter on his/her own: by simply selecting a category from the dropdown. https://www.four-paws.org/our-stories/publications-guides/ | https://www.four-paws.org/our-stories/press-releases
The new feature:
Now, we can create a link to one of these filtered views, if you want to send a user from a SoMe post or teaser to a filtered view. E.g.
- https://www.four-paws.org/our-stories/publications-guides/#taxonomy-470ee7fe-e0a1-4ecb-8303-84316a6ee4c1 = Companion Animals
- https://www.four-paws.org/our-stories/press-releases/#category-7920c98f-f6ae-421b-9e07-65f121f8821d = Wool
Please note:
For Publication filter links:
- use #taxonomy if you want to create it for the filter categories
- use #category if you want to create it for the filter topics
For PR links, you have to use #category. We will explain this further.
How to create these links:
1. Get the identifier of the taxonomy
Option A: In the Hub
- Navigate to the section or folder which is called "Tags". This is where you will find the taxonomies.
- Select the term/taxonomy you need e.g. Companion Animals
In the inspector, in the 2nd tab you can find the technical details. Copy the identifier E.g. 470ee7fe-e0a1-4ecb-8303-84316a6ee4c1
Option B: In the Front End
Right click with your mouse when you are in the filter area on the overview page and select "inspect"
- Unfold the <div class="module-filter__filters container"><div class
- Copy the term from data-filter e.g. "taxonomy"
- Copy the value e.g. 3b15908c-3e34-4bdd-ad2e-0bd98c06521f for "Urlaub"
Option C: For Publications Filter Topics
If you want to create a filtered view for topics, you have to go to the front end, right click with your mouse when you are in the filter area on the overview page and select "inspect"
- Unfold the <select class="module-filter_filter-category form-control">
- Copy the value for the topic you would like to create the filtered view for
2. Navigate in the frontend to the overview
- For PRs, Blog & News, Rescue Stories, Publications (topics): get the URL path, then add /#category- and paste the identifier
- For Publications: get the URL path, then add /#taxonomy- and paste the identifer
FYI: the taxonomy identifier does not change in different languages, for both PRs and Publications. The means you can just switch the URL path to your domain. E.g:
